The Food Nanny’s Summer Strawberry Shortcake
- 1 box Betty Crocker Super Moist French Vanilla Cake Mix
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 Pints Fresh Strawberries cleaned and diced.
- 2 Tablespoons Sugar
- 1 pint heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 tsp sugar
For the cake
Follow directions exactly on the cake box adding in 1/2 cup sour cream when adding the eggs. Pour into greased 9x13 inch pan and bake as directed. You know the cake is done when a toothpick comes out with a little soft crumb still left on it. Let cool.
Mix Strawberries & sugar. Let sit at room temperature for at least 10 minutes
Whip cream until still creamy not stiff.
Cut 12 slices cooled cake. Slice open each piece like a sandwich and put on a plate. You will have 2 pieces.
Top with sugared diced strawberries at room temperature.
Spoon on the creamy whipping cream.
